To install and use the QuickPass Study Tools:
- You’ll need a Windows computer (running Windows 98/2000/XP), with a CD-ROM drive and at least 40 MB of available hard disk space.
- Insert the QuickPass disc into your PC’s CD-ROM drive.
- If a window showing the contents of your CD-ROM drive doesn’t appear automatically, double-click on My Computer and double-click on your CD-ROM drive.
- Double-Click on the folder on the CD-ROM that's named "TestInstall."
- Double-Click on "Setup.exe" and follow the on-screen instructions.
|
|
| Depending on the version of Windows you are using, you may see the following dialog box near the end of the installation process... |
|
|
 |
The Installation will create a "Learning Tool" icon, and place this on your Windows "desktop."
- Double click on The Learning Tool icon to access your QuickPass Study Tools.
You can also access QuickPass exams in your Windows "Start" menu, in the Program Group entitled "The Learning Tool." |

Opening and Using QuickPass Modules |
When you double-click on the Learning Tool icon, you will see a Learning Tool "control panel" like the one shown here...
- The Control Panel presents big, gray buttons for each of the QuickPass modules that you have installed.
NOTE: Many tests include multiple parts, to break your work down into more manageable units.
- Click on the big gray button that you want to work on, and the QuickPass screen for that test/unit will open.
NOTE: The Control Panel remains open in the background. To close it at the end of your study session, click on the "X" button in the upper right-hand corner of the Control Panel.

When you close the QuickPass screen for a test module (either using the “X” button in the upper right-hand corner, or the File menu’s Exit command), QuickPass will ask you if you’d like to save the test.
- If you say “Yes,” you’ll be able to pick up the next time right where you left off. QuickPass will remember which questions you have answered correctly, and which you have answered incorrectly.
- If you say “No,” QuickPass will reset that test/unit to the original, unsaved state. That applies even if you have previously saved a test/unit: if you open it and don’t save it, QuickPass will reset the test/unit.
If you have previously worked on a module, and have saved your work, when you go to open that module at a later time, the software will ask you if you’d like to open the saved test. If you don’t open the saved test, QuickPass will open a new copy and will discard your saved test.
|
Installing Multiple Modules |
If you have purchased more than one QuickPass CD-ROM, follow the same installation steps for each module (on the next page); you will not affect previously installed modules, nor previously saved tests. The installation will simply place additional buttons in the Control Panel for your new modules.

Turning "Explanations" on and off... |
As you go through the questions, you can turn Explanations on or off.
For many questions, QuickPass Explanations give you a brief background on a question’s subject matter, and reasons behind the correct answer. In the early stages of your study, you may want to turn Explanations on. As you become more confident with the subject matter, you can turn off the Explanations.

Once you’ve completed all the questions, QuickPass helps you review the questions you’ve missed, and gives you yet another chance to learn what you’ll need to pass your exam.
When you have completed a module, QuickPass will provide a summary of your performance, and suggestions for further review.
Repeat the QuickPass process again and again, until you feel comfortable and confident.

See above for a complete discussion regarding "Saving Your Work."
Use this QuickPass feature to your advantage....
- If you save a module, you can review your work and pick up where you leave off, in a future session. This will help you work your way through each module.
- When you don't save your work, QuickPass resets the module back to its original status. The same occurs when you don't open a previously-saved module, and instead instruct QuickPass not to open a saved test. So, just before your exam, open each module, and when prompted whether you want to open the saved version, say "no." Quickly run through all modules one last time, to make sure you know your stuff.

| When you are finished with QuickPass, you may want to uninstall the software and test modules from your computer.
First, remove the software...
- Go to the LTool folder on your computer's hard drive.
- Double click on the file named unins000.exe
Then, to remove the data for the modules you have installed...
- Delete the LTool folder and all of its contents.
