This contract establishes an agreement between a general contractor (also referred to as the prime contractor) and a subcontractor, or between an owner/builder and a subcontractor.
The general contractor holds a primary contract with the project owner and, in turn, awards specialized work to trade-specific professionals known as subcontractors. While the general contractor is directly responsible to the owner, subcontractors operate under agreements with the general contractor.
This subcontract version is preferred by prime contractors.
