The original edition of this glossary was developed for use by trainee cadastral surveyors during the cadastral survey professional series of training courses.

This edition is intended for use by all BLM personnel and should be of particular value to newly hired cadastral and cartographic personnel. For the sake of clarity and exactness, many first edition definitions have been modified.

The definitions are not meant to conflict with those in other glossaries, but since the glossary is for BLM cadastral personnel, some terms will have a meaning unique to BLM cadastral surveys.
