This 2017 Los Angeles County Electrical Code (Amendment Only) encompasses all electrical work in Los Angeles County and all cities within the contract for electrical inspection. The County of Los Angeles Electrical Code, Title 27 of the Los Angeles County Code, as amended, includes the administrative details for electrical installations. Detailed text and guidelines are found in the California Electrical Code, which has been inducted as part of the County of Los Angeles Electrical Code. These codes managed by Los Angeles are dynamic, meaning they are constantly updated to keep current with recent advances in accordance with electrical inspectors, fire protection officials, and all other organizations involved in the electrical industry.

More specifically, the contents of this book are as follows: chapter 1 includes nomenclature and definitions of commonly used terminology, requirements for electrical installations, and breaks down installations into two sections, over 600 volts or less than 600 volts. It also mentions tunnel installations and manholes or other electrical enclosures intended for personnel entry. Chapter 2 is titled wiring and protection and mentions branch circuits, feeders, service calculations, among others. Chapter 3 goes over wiring methods and materials, covering strategies, and different details for the types of cable and conduit bodies recommended.
