International Wildland-Urban Interface Code (IWUIC)
Overlay code that focuses on proper construction requirements and hazard mitigation measures, such as providing defensible space where buildings interface with wildland fire hazards. Supplements building and fire codes in wildland-urban interface areas by requiring hazard-based measures that reduce wildfire exposure risks, protect life and property, limit fire spread, and support fire protection planning.

- New definition and provisions for fire-smart vegetation.
- New requirements for access roads and address identification.
- Revised requirements for WUI Construction Classes in Table 503.1.
- Substantial revisions and additions to the building construction regulations in Chapter 5.
- New Chapter 7 for maintenance requirements.
